  • Check your eligibility for fall textbook purchasing through Financial Aid. The purchasing period ends on August 30, 2024. Visit the Longwood University Bookstore or call (434) 990-6716.

September

  • Talk with guidance counselors to discuss scholarship opportunities.
  • Research other scholarship opportunities within your local community and online.

October

  • File your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https://studentaid.gov/.
  • Watch for your FAFSA Submission Summary and review it carefully. Make adjustments to the FAFSA, if necessary.
  • Attend local/regional college fairs and financial aid events.

December

  • Watch your Longwood email for information on additional requirements needed to complete your application.
  • If applicable, submit any additional documentation requested by the Office of Financial Aid as soon as possible.

January - April

  • If applicable, submit any documentation requested by the Office of Financial Aid to complete your application.
  • Pay your Admissions deposit by May 1.

February

  • Watch your mail and Longwood email for a Financial Aid Offer.

June - July

  • Notify the Office of Financial Aid of any outside scholarships, grants, or other assistance you will receive.
  • Complete requirements for student loans: .
  • Attend orientation!.
  • Sign up for Direct Deposit in order to receive financial aid refunds, if applicable.
  • Complete the Information Release Consent Form (FERPA form) if the student would like us to be able to discuss financial aid matters with parents or others. This will be covered during orientation.
  • Watch for your fall billing notification in early July.
  • Sign up for a monthly payment plan, do so after receiving your fall billing notification.

August

  • Fall bills due early – mid-August.

  • Watch for your Student Aid Report and review it carefully. Make adjustments to the FAFSA, if necessary.

  • If applicable, submit any additional documentation requested by the Office of Financial Aid as soon as possible

January - April

  • If applicable, submit any documentation requested by the Office of Financial Aid to complete your application.

Late May / Early June

  • Watch your mail and Longwood's email for a Financial Aid Offer.

June - July

  • Notify the Office of Financial Aid of any outside scholarships, grants, or other assistance you will receive.
  • If you will be a first-time borrower, complete the requirements for student loans: Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note (MPN).
  • New and returning borrowers, complete the Annual Student Loan Acknowledgment.
  • Sign up for Direct Deposit in order to receive financial aid refunds, if applicable, more quickly.
  • Contact the Office of Financial Aid so your offer may be adjusted if you plan to take less than 12 credits in the upcoming fall or spring semesters.
  • Watch for your fall billing notification in early July.
  • Sign up for a monthly payment plan, after receiving your fall billing notification.
