Dr. Tyler St. Clair grew up in Poquoson, Virginia.  He graduated from the University of Mary Washington with a degree in chemistry, and went on to earn master’s degrees in chemistry and in secondary science teaching from The University of Virginia.  For several years he taught high school chemistry, physics, and general science in both China and New York.  In 2012, he decided to return to graduate school and received his Ph.D. in the field of science education from Oregon State University in 2016.  Since that time, he has been an assistant professor at SUNY Potsdam and is just recently hired to work in the Department of Chemistry and Physics at Longwood University.  His research interests include studying project-based learning with a global focus, teaching the nature of science, and chemistry/polymer education.
